Capturing form data (6 posts)

    Hi,

As WordPress has evolved into becoming more than just a blogging platform, its also now a CMS. I was wondering whether there is a plugin that capture's data inputted by a user in a contact form and places it into a MySQL database which can then be downloaded by the admin user as a CSV file.

Is there any like this available for WordPress, or is this something that I'm more likely to find in advanced CMS specific solutions.

    Thanks
    Gary

    Hi Gary,
I'm looking for a similar feature. Came across this. Is that what you are looking for?

MM Forms can do exactly what you're looking for. You can create and customize contact forms, and it can save the submitted data to a MySQL database. You can then view the data in the WP console as well as export to/save as CSV.

    Hi ShannonWX,
Does a CSV file open in in MS Excel? My client wants their form submissions to end up as Excel Spreadsheet.

    Thanks!

Usually, yes! You can find some great information about opening CSV files in Excel here. The only downside is that you might need to instruct your client on how to open CSV files in Excel, since a CSV file might not appear in Excel's "Open" dialogue box by default.

ShannonWX - you have been able to get the MM Forms export function to work properly? I only get a 404 error - see here for details, if you care to help: http://wordpress.org/support/topic/267860?replies=6#post-1342954

    Thanks!
