   I'm noticing that the CAPTCHA image/text changes twice upon reloading my contact form here: http://michaellashford.com/contact/

   When you reload the page, you'll notice the image changes to a new CAPTCHA image from before the refresh, then after a second, changes again.

   Why does it do this? Is that normal or is there a way to stop this from happening?

   It's a normal behavior when you use it with caching plugins. You are using WP-Super-Cache.
