• Hi there,

    I’m trying to write a post in WordPress 2.8.6 and while I can write in the title box without any trouble, I can’t write in the text box — I can’t even get a cursor to show up! When I click there, nothing happens.

    I’ve tried on both Firefox and Google Chrome and the same problem persists — but I’ve never had this problem before. Please help!!

  • Have you tried:

    – deactivating all plugins to see if this resolves the problem? If this works, re-activate the plugins one by one until you find the problematic plugin(s).

    – switching to the default theme to rule out any theme-related problems?

    That doesn’t seem to help.

    To explain further, text shows up when I highlight it, but not otherwise. And I can’t switch from HTML to Visual.

    It’s a well-known problem that is normally caused by an incompatible plugin.

    I’m a bit of a techno-dummy… can you please explain this suggestion to me:

    Add define( ‘CONCATENATE_SCRIPTS’, false ); near the top of wp-config.php. That would make WordPress admin run slower, so can try removing it in a few days and testing again (this would eliminate any stale network cache)

    What do I need to do here?

    Download your wp-config.php file from the root folder of your WordPress site to your own machine. Open it in a plain text editor (eg NotePad – not Word or any other word-processing application) and, immediately after,

    * @package WordPress
     */

    press Enter once, add the line suggested above then press Enter again. Save the file and re-upload it to your site.
