  • Why is it trying to post to your local machine? Are you hosting yourself?

That would be a normal response if it’s a Windows server.

You need to check that the wp-content/cache file is writeable by the server user.

    NOTHING IS SHOWING UP!
I don’t know what happened, but suddenly nothing is loading. All the files seem to be in place, but after a week of crafting the thing, its simply not showing up! WTF!!!???

    and

You need to check that the wp-content/cache file is writeable by the server user.

No, I am not hosting it myself. I have just switched to a new web hosting service and I’m still trying to figure it out. I will be check ing on the properties for the wp-content/cache file

Oh, please do not confuse me with jewishfringe. I have know idea what their problem is.

    sorry sue… 🙂

you might want to check with the hosting company to make sure you’re hosting on a Linux server – there are some hacks available for Windows servers, but I’m personally not aware of what they are. I know with godaddy, the default server is Windows, but you can switch to Linux with the click of a button and it’s no biggie…

    No Problem 😉

I signed up for a windows server. I checked their help and WordPress can be installed on my account. I’m working with their directory management tool, but it is slow going.

wordpress CAN be installed on a windows server – however there’s a few tweaks that need to be made first. check the new search feature here at the forums and try “installing on windows” or something similar and see if you can find someone who’s solved the problem already…

    i know it can be done, it’s just a P.I.T.A. 🙂

ok, thanks. Just what would the world do without Windows to make it ineresting? LOL

One last question. I’m throwing in the towel concerning Windows so I’m going to switch over to Linux, but will I lose my posts when I do it? Is there any way to backup my posts and reinsert them later? Ok, I guess that is 2 questions.
    Thanks.

you shouldn’t lose everything if you’re switching – just make sure you make a database backup before you do anything on the backend of the site – that’s pretty much a gold standard when working on the web anyway.
