Can't view index.php

    I have installed WordPress locally following all of the instructions mentioned and I can view the admin panel, but the problem is that when I want to visit the main website (the homepage: index.php) I only get the directory listing and it is from there that I was able to access the admin panel (after I get there I can browse inside just fine, I just cannot go to my website name > View Site; I get the directory listing instead and not the website.

    Hi Sicp,

    Go to your admin > settings > reading and select static page as front page displaying. Here a select menu is offered to you, where you can choose your home page.
