Support » Fixing WordPress » Can't Upload To Media Library – Used To Work

  • I’ve never had a problem uploading images and pdf files to my media library. Suddenly, around the end of October, nothing uploads. I’ve tried both the browser and flash ways and it just sits there. I’ve searched the forums and tried deactivating all plugins as suggested but that did not fix the problem.

One thing I am noticing is that when I click on “view” of images in my media library, they sometimes say “Too many redirects occurred trying to open “http://riversouthbay.org/?attachment_id=2947”. This might occur if you open a page that is redirected to open another page which then is redirected to open the original page.”

Other times, they show up but I notice the url seems odd: http://RIVERSOUTHBAY.ORG/index.php/connect/study_groups/small-groups/rsz_pushpin_blue/. I thought the url would say it’s in wp-content/uploads, not index.php/connect. I’ve checked my settings for media and it does say media should be uploaed to wp-content/uploads.

I’ve called my hosting service and they check to see if it was a server side problem at there end but said it wasnt’.

PLEASE Help! I really need to update some content and add images and just can’t make sense of this. Thank you for your help.

  • Have you tried:

    – deactivating all plugins to see if this resolves the problem. If this works, re-activate the plugins one by one until you find the problematic plugin(s).

    – switching to the Twenty Eleven theme to rule out any theme-specific problems.

resetting the plugins folder by FTP or PhpMyAdmin. Sometimes, an apparently inactive plugin can still cause problems.

    – re-uploading the wp-admin and wp-includes folders from a fresh download of WordPress.
