Hi Im very new to WordPress and right off the bat I ran into this problem. I received this error while trying to upload a picture to a post:

File is empty. Please upload something more substantial. This error could also be caused by uploads being disabled in your php.ini or by post_max_size being defined as smaller than upload_max_filesize in php.ini.

I looked at others that have had this problem and i deleted the plugins and still couldn't upload, the file im trying to upload is only 260kb so well below the 2mb limit. I have not been able to upload any picture files since I installed wordpress to my host server (it didnt suddenly stop working, it just hasn't at all). From what I can find there hasn't really been a thread thats shown this issue being solved and I'm frustrated. Does anyone know how to really fix this?

Maybe the wp-content directory of WordPress is not writable. WordPress can not create uploads directory.
