CAN'T UPLOAD PHOTOS? – is its parent directory writable?

    Suddenly today, for no apparent reason, I can’t upload any images as I have for years?! The image seems to “crunch” all the way across, but then I get an error message -” Unable to create directory…” and a question “Is the parent directory writable to the server?” And I have no idea how to resolve this issue.
