Can't Upload Images to Media Library

    When I try to upload an image, I either get this message:

    “image_name.png” has failed to upload due to an error
    Failed to write file to disk.

    or an HTTP error. I was getting the HTTP error on every attempt, and then I disabled smushit, and it started working for a couple of images. When I came back to it a little later, now I can’t upload anything.

    Any help would be greatly appreciated.

    Hi Larry:

    A little more info would be useful. Did this just start happening? Is this a new WP install? Have you upgraded or added any new plugins??

    Hi Ron,

    Thanks for the reply. This is a clone of another installation which I moved using backup buddy. The original installation had no problems until I upgraded to 3.5. Then I started getting HTTP errors when I uploaded image files.

    When I updated to 3.51 it temporarily worked and I was able to upload a few images. But then I started getting HTTP errors again.

    Then I disabled Smushit and it started working for a couple more images. But when I came back to it a couple of hours later, it started giving this new error about not being able to save the file and on some files, continued giving HTTP errors.

    Hi Larry:

    It appears things went off the rail for you with the upgrade to 3.5. I have one or 2 sites that I experienced problems with too.

    The auto upgrade to 3.5 and 3.5.1 all seemed to work fine, but I found that I had to manually delete and then upload (via FTP) some file structure in my sites.

    My problem was a bit different than yours, but possibly the process I went through may be of use to you. You can read it here.

    3.5 was a major upgrade for the media up-loader process so potentially you might want to check out some of the 3.5 troubleshooting challenges that have already been identified. You can read 3.5 master list here.

    Hi Guys I had the same problem I had tod downgrade to be able to upload pictures again. I had already tried everything else..

    Just wanted to share with you guys what worked for me
    I was using 3.5.1 and was not able to do multiple uploads.
    I downgraded to 3.4.2 (which you can download here http://wordpress.org/download/release-archive/ )
    And followed this video to be able to get it done correctly since I had never done it before – http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wo3wNn4eTEA

    This was the only thing that worked for me.

    Hopefully I can save someones time (since mine cant be recovered lol)
