Can't upload images, no error messages. WP2.7 (17 posts)

I'm using the latest FF, the latest WP, BlueHost and Windows XP.

I'm trying to upload images to my library or my posts, with no success. I get the loading bar and it gets "crunched" but then nothing happens. I try to do it with large images, small images, jpegs and bmp's. I also tried using a link, and that works.

I tried searching the forums, but the problems people were having were different, they had error messages or the upload button wasn't available. For me everything *looks* fine, but it doesn't appear...

    Please advise,

    Thanks

I dont´know if it helps you, but I had done a fresh WP 2.7 install yesterday and had some problems with the Image/media Manager too.

I compared a original installation package with the files I uploaded to the server and there are some files missing (3 or 4 Javascript files). The Phenomen: when i tried to upload the missing Files on the server they disappeared right after uploading (FilleZilla told me, that where uploaded correctly). So I tried to UL these files via the Web FTP interface of my webhosting and It works. once the files found there place on the server, WP works fine ...

    Strange.

Maybe it would help you when you have a look if all files are complete on your webspace ...

I used the Total Commanders Sync function

Thanks for the help! I haven't upgraded however, this is a brand new fresh start, so I wouldn't understand why there would be files missing. How can I verify if there are files missing?

Have you tried using the non flash uploader? What version of flash are you using?

Flash 10. Yes, I've used both the flash and non-flash uploader. It's weird, everything seems alright, and the upload completes as if it were just fine... but there's just no image!

I just read that flash 10 has issues with WordPress. You may try flash 9.

Also make sure that the file permissions are 777 for all your WordPress files.

Don't change file permissions to 777. Its a huge security risk.

Me neither, Just get the red cross after uploading.

I don't get any sort of red cross at all, just a blank space where the image should be

Re-upload all your WP files, too. Even if you don't think anything got missed, it won't hurt anything, especially if this is a new install and not an upgrade. Then try using the non-flash uploader again and see if it works.

Hi, yes I uploaded all files again and even checked manually that all java files are complete as mentioned above, with both uploaders the problem remains.

I used the simple scripts function from my BlueHost cpanel.... shouldn't I be able to assume that everything was done correctly? I don't know how to verify that everything's there :-S

--Insert enormous gut wrenching belly laugh here--

Seriously? Those services are the worst. I have yet to find one of them that can either install or upgrade WordPress properly.

Do it yourself. Really. If uploading files to your site is too complex for you, then you really should not be running your own site in the first place, and should consider switching to a managed blog service like WordPress.com.

I had this same exact issue. Here is what I did for for anyone coming across this post.

    Go to: setting>miscellaneous

Make sure that: Store uploads in this folder = wp-content/uploads

Mine was set to the absolute path on the server. Hope that helps.
