• I can’t upload images in my new (2nd) blog, which is hosted as a subdomain (if that makes any difference.) I keep getting this error:

“Unable to create directory /home/catdan/ourblog.greenhillslawnandgarden.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/02. Is its parent directory writable by the server?

ALSO, my FTP client (Dreamweaver) won’t let me upload files to the server for this subdomain root directory only (it’s fine with the other ones, which are domains) and keeps generating FTP errors (for this subdomain directory only.)

I did search the forums, and this question (or one like it) was asked and answered a lot a couple of years back. But there are two things. First, I’m not sure if it’s the same issue today. The problem seemed to be about file permissions at the time (is afraid.) But is that still what the solution would be now? Second, is this even the SAME problem, considering that I can’t upload files to the server for the blog associated with this
    subdomain at all?

Advice much appreciated!! :)I’m going nuts with this!

  • With regards to your first question, you need to change the permission on your uploads folder.

Unfortunately, I don’t use DW and thus can’t answer the second question. Personally I find Filezilla easier to use for FTP.

Oh, I was hoping the file permission thing wasn’t still the answer to it all… 🙁 (is very afraid)

FileZilla probably would be easier to use, but DW is what I have and know. But it would seem that it would probably be a related problem. What I REALLY would like to know is…. did all of this happen only with this install because it was on a subdomain, and the other blog is on a regular domain? (So if all else fails, I could try again on another domain.)

Thanks so much for all the advice! 🙂
