Can't Update Page Status, Can't Erase Page, Can't Update Content Either!

    I have a self hosted installation of WP v3.0.1 – I haven’t added any plugins recently and haven’t made any changes… which is why this problem is very odd.

    Anyways, I tried adding a page to my blog but I needed to update another page which was already published based on the new page I added. I went to the old “published page” I needed to update and when I entered the new info and clicked on “Publish” nothing happened, the new info I entered disappeared and the page was not updated.

    I tried changing the status of the page from published to “Draft” and then back to “published” again to see if I could update the page content after a status change but now I can’t change the status of the page to “published” .. it keeps showing up as “draft”

    When I click on “edit” next to “status” I see a drop down with 2 options:

    Pending Review
    Draft

    There is no way for me to change this to published back again. I tried clicking on the big obvious “Publish” button which is supposed to change the status of the page from draft to published but this doesn’t change the status nor does it update the page content when I add the modified info.

    I HAVE:

    Cleared my cookies/cache because I thought it was a problem related to that, nothing helped. I have tried with Firefox, IE, Chrome … nothing!

    I am at my wits end here, I don’t know whats wrong! This is extremely frustrating…

    Oh yeah one more thing I forgot to add, I have also tried erasing the page but it doesn’t go to the “trash” section, it just disappears from the “published pages” and the status keeps showing up as “draft”

    Ditto – exact same thing happening to me too except I have WP 2.9.1 and when I take a Draft to Publish the post does publish but if I made changes to the draft they get wiped out. I also cannot delete posts.

    @shoppinggems … After spending about an hour or so with my hosting-support guys they were able to figure out what the deal was… the SQL Database was corrupted so you need to repair it w phpMyAdmin .. OR you could have your hosting support guys repair the DB for you.

    Things are now back to normal on my side of things (^_^)

    We had the same problem so thanks for letting us know the fix. We just repaired the wp-post table and it seems to be working now.

    Obviously this is a glitch and one that needs to be looked at because it seems to be happening to more and more people.
