Can't update from 3.1-alpha to 3.0.4 - Charset problem happens (9 posts)

    Hi,

I don't know why (this is very strange), but my WordPress version was changed by a developer 3.1-alpha. Now, I am trying to update this installation manually, updating all the folders and files, except the WP-content content.

When I access http://domain.com/wp-admin or http://domain.com/wp-admin/install.php or http://domain.com/wp-admin/upgrade.php, nothing happens. But, after the upload, the blog if filled with strange characters (charset problem). It seems (my personal opinion) that the database was updated (I don't know how to confirm this) and now these problems are happening.

I tried to update manually several times, and after all of this, the charset problem happens. I also tried the automatic option, but the same problem happens. My WordPress is in Brazilian - Portuguese.

Could someone help me, please? :)

    Thanks!

You can't update from 3.1 to 3.0.4 as the former is a newer version.

Hum, I understood. I just don't understood how this 3.1 version goes to there. :(

    Thank you. :)

    Do you normally update manually?

I don't see how the automatic upgrade could have caused this problem. For now, I'd suggest installing the WordPress Beta Tester plugin so you can upgrade to the latest release candidate. Then hang tight until 3.1 is formally released.
