   Like many others, I am new to WP and cannot get round the following message, whatever I try:

   "We were able to connect to the database server (which means your username and password is okay) but not able to select the xxxxxx_ishouldgetoutmore_com database.

   Are you sure it exists?
   Does the user ishouldgetxxxxxx have permission to use the xxxxxx_ishouldgetoutmore_com database?
   On some systems the name of your database is prefixed with your username, so it would be like username_xxxxxx_ishouldgetoutmore_com. Could that be the problem?

   I have checked with my host (BT) that I have entered all the details correctly in wp-config.php...

   What else am I missing?

   Thanks for the message and link but as a noobe, can you help me a bit more...

   I don't think I have a back-up problem; I would like to be that far into the process but I am not yet! I look forward to it!

   I can however, access phpMyAdmin and I can see the database I created as part of the initial installation process; I can also see my user name and that both the db and the un are as I have set out in wp-config.php

   So, still flumoxed...

   Thanks for responding Navaratnam and yes, and I checked with my host that the details are correctly entered in wp-config.php...
