• Hello. My hosting company is 1&1.com. At 1&1.com I have two separate accounts referred to as account A & B for this message. A has several months worth of valuable data in a MySQL database. I want to move that database to account B.

    Did so far:
    1. Created a folder in account B with the wordpress 2.7.1 from the downloaded install.
    2. Created an MySQL database on B.
    3. Exported the database on A and successfully imported it on B.

When I do the command: (in this case)
    http://www.jgdatafeed.com/pete/wp-admin/install.php
I get a message that I need to clear old database tables first.

Also something worth mentioning – last week before I exported and imported the database, I had successfully created a word press account using the command I noted above ….the install.php. Of course it created the wordpress blog and looked great except I knew I was going to need all the exported data in it. Come today I completely deleted and reloaded the wordpress install directories within my site from the hosting company. I thought that would handle take care of the install I did last week.

I hope I explained this well enough. I am not sure if I need to rename the new wordpress directories and sub and use a different name for my blog. Thanks all.

    Joanne

    One more note….

the website for accessing this exported and imported database is changing from
    www.

    thebluejuiceband.com/pete

    to jgdatafeed.com/pete

    My best advice is,
import the database to new account in new folder
Keep your Blog url same as tat of before
    verify the DB
change the DB name in wp-config.php in newly installed place according to your MYSQL DB name.

I don’t think that will work because the URL has to change. The old url is going to be transfered to an account that does not belong to me.

I have already done the export/import, created a new WordPress directory- it was during the install where my message that I cannot create the database.
