Better WordPress reCAPTCHA (support Akismet and Contact Form 7)
[resolved] Can't see the reCAPTCHA with WordPress 3.8 (7 posts)

I updated WordPress from 3.7.1 to 3.8 and now the captcha will just be shown as [recaptcha recaptcha-xxx] on the contact form instead of the actually image, see http://games.connectie.eu/testcontactform/ . With WordPress 3.7.1 the captcha worked fine.

I am not sure if this is related to WordPress 3.8 or Contact Form 7, also updated Contact Form 7 recently, but other captcha codes for Contact Form 7 work fine for me with WordPress 3.8.

Same problem on my site. It´s not because of WP 3.8 update, I tested the previous version of CF7 on WP 3.8 and that works fine. So it has something to do with the latest CF7 update. I will keep using that on my sites untill this is fixed.

I think WP does better checking for short code formats. The plugin author should recode to make it like:
    [recaptcha id="xxx"]
    And recode to handle those.

I tried that, but no joy. I suspect that the [recaptcha] shortcode isn't getting registered in the latest build.

I'm having the exact same problem on my websites that recently updated to WP 3.8. Any clue as to what's causing it?

Please check latest version of BWP reCAPTCHA, support for CF7 is now built-in so make sure you remove the extension plugin.
