Can't see date and author? (1 post)

    First off I'm a complete newbie at WordPress and certainly of php files (Also at 69 the brain isn't as fast as it used to be so please be gentle with me :-) ) I've installed this plugin and followed all the instructions. I have copied the post loop php file into my theme's root directory (I'm using childishly Simple Child as my theme) I've edited the file to change the theme name and changed the <?php the_excerpt(); ?> to <?php the_content(); ?>

    However I still can't see the date and author in the posts?
    Here's my code:
    <!-- NOTE: If you need to make changes to this file, copy it to your current theme's main
    directory so your changes won't be overwritten when the plugin is upgraded. -->

    <!-- Start of Post Wrap -->
    <div class="post hentry ivycat-post">
    <!-- This is the output of the post TITLE -->
    <h2 class="entry-title">"><?php the_title(); ?></h2>

    <!-- This is the output of the EXCERPT -->
    <div class="entry-summary">
    <?php the_content(); ?>
    </div>

    <!-- This is the output of the META information -->
    <div class="entry-utility">
    <?php if ( count( get_the_category() ) ) : ?>
    <span class="cat-links">
    <?php printf( __( '<span class="%1$s">Posted in</span> %2$s', 'childishly_simple_child' ), 'entry-utility-prep entry-utility-prep-cat-links', get_the_category_list( ', ' ) ); ?>
    </span>
    <span class="meta-sep">|</span>
    <?php endif; ?>
    <?php
    $tags_list = get_the_tag_list( '', ', ' );
    if ( $tags_list ):
    ?>
    <span class="tag-links">
    <?php printf( __( '<span class="%1$s">Tagged</span> %2$s', 'childishly-simple-child' ), 'entry-utility-prep entry-utility-prep-tag-links', $tags_list ); ?>
    </span>
    <span class="meta-sep">|</span>
    <?php endif; ?>
    <span class="comments-link"><?php comments_popup_link( __( 'Leave a comment', 'childishly-simple-child' ), __( '1 Comment', 'childishly-simple-child' ), __( '% Comments', 'childishly-simple-child' ) ); ?></span>
    <?php edit_post_link( __( 'Edit', 'childishly-simple-child' ), '<span class="meta-sep">|</span> <span class="edit-link">', '</span>' ); ?>
    </div>
    </div>
    <!-- // End of Post Wrap -->

    Could anyone point me in the right direction? I've read other posts on this subject and thought I'd followed the instructions carefully.
    Many Thanks
    Tony
