    Hi,

I created a test site locally and when I tested the site and posted several posts, I can published them locally.
But the problem comes when I click at one of the link post, I encountered an error and the post simply don't display.

    This is the error message:

    -----
    URL: http://gstp.test.net/a-second-post-is-so-smooth-now/

    Not Found

The requested URL /a-second-post-is-so-smooth-now/ was not found on this server.

    -----

In WordPress Dashboard, I can access this post and see its content. I am using WordPress 3.5.1. And my Permalink setting has been set to "http://gstp.test.net/%postname%/".

I checked the database table about the post via phpMyAdmin via my local install, I could see the table has captured the content of this post in a field.

    Please help. Thanks.

Go to Settings->General and check what is listed under Website URL and Site Address. If the test is local, you'll want to make sure your local address is listed there, i.e. http://localhost:8888/test/whatever

This is especially true if you copied the database from your test site over to the live server. You may have had it correct on the test site but people tend to forget to switch the URL when they export the database to the live site.

    Hope that helps!

    Hi wpencer,

    Thanks for your help.

I actually hosted the test site on vmware workstation in a Linux host. I added a few test posts and published them. I want to see how my theme will look like once the site is populated.

The Settings in General look ok. I still have no clue why it behave like this.

When you are in the post editor screen, what is listed for the slug? If you click "View Post", does the post display correctly?

You might want to try changing your Permalink structure to the default setting, saving it, then changing it back to /%postname%/. Sometimes that will kind of flush the rewrite rules in the database and fix some problems.
