Hi - When I go to login to my site my password doesn't work and when I click on "lost your password?" it says "There is no user registered with that email address." But it worked yesterday? I have no idea how this happened. Can anyone help?

When you go to your lost password link: yoursite.com/wp-login.php?action=lostpassword, try entering your user name rather than your email address, and see if the results are any different. If you still get the error message, you may need to reset your password manually by using one of the methods described in this article: Resetting Your Password

If you have phpMyAdmin, that usually makes pretty short work of it. You can find a link to a tutorial on that page.

    @Liesls
    You're welcome.

tried the my php option - didnt work - any suggestions?

Take a minute to review all of the steps in the tutorial again. There's no reason why it should not work. Or, you might try one of the other listed methods.

i retried it three times - when i try to reset it using the reset pw option it tells me that the reset link is invalid - i'm not a power user so dont want to try the command line option - any suggestions?

Bluehost helped me move my old database over from an old dommain to a new domain and that started causing this issue if that helps

That isn't the phpMyAdmin solution I mentioned. Please go back and read the information in this article again.Resetting Your Password

If that's the case, you may need to contact Bluehost support for assistance.

I'm afraid I'm at a loss for an explanation on that one. Changing the admin password directly from the database is usually a pretty precise and direct solution.

If you get a chance, you may want to start a new thread so that someone else can offer some ideas. You posted your issue on top of @Liesls existing thread, so your question might not get the same attention that it would if you started a new thread for yourself. Good luck to you!

kghadiali: If you are missing some of your core WordPress files, that could affect this. Try the following, in this order:

    1) Deactivate plugins: http://codex.wordpress.org/FAQ_Troubleshooting#How_to_deactivate_all_plugins_when_not_able_to_access_the_administrative_menus.3F
--1a) Test login (If it doesn't work, leave the plugins deactivated while you test the below steps)

    2) Reset your password: http://codex.wordpress.org/Resetting_Your_Password#Through_phpMyAdmin

    3) Make sure that your user and email are correct in wp_users while checking your password as well. Although your password uses an MD5 hash, your user and email address do *not* use an MD5 hash.

    --3a) Test your login again

    4) Check your site, and home options in your database to make sure they are correctly pointed to the proper URL. (Make sure there are no blank spaces too!): http://wordpress.shadowlantern.com/how-change-wordpress-url-phpmyadmin/

    5) If you still cannot log in at this point, try re-uploading all the core WordPress files, except do not upload wp-content: http://wordpress.org/download/
