Can't login to my WordPress: A user name and password are being requested by (10 posts)

    Hi,

I'm having some issues with logging to my WordPress.

When I try to login at my website wp-login.php, it keeps popping up the dialog box:

A user name and password are being requested by http://mywebsite.
    The site says: "wp-admin".

I tried to replace wp-login.php but it does not seem to help.

Anyone has any advice? Is it a hacker attack?

    Thks!

    Hello Steven,

By the description you have given, we cannot really tell your site has been hacked or not.

Meanwhile, you can reset the admin password and try logging in, the article in this link might help you:

Also please go through the links below, to check whether your site has been hacked:

Maybe it is something stupid like a language setting of your keyboard.

    Hi Praveen,

Thks for the info! I'll try to restore my WordPress files and hopefully it will work.

Here's a more detailed description of what I am facing:

When I try to access wp-login.php, the usual WordPress login page was not displayed. Instead, the dialog popup is displayed requesting for my username and password.

Even if I type in my WordPress password, I am unable to login and the dialog popup keeps "popping up".

After I cancel the dialog box, a blank white webpage with no CSS styling is displayed with the usual WordPress login username and password textfields.

Its really odd and I remember it was working fine awhile back on my last update to my WordPress website.

    Hi Praveen,

    My WordPress login URL is

    http://mymakeupbar.com/wp-login.php

You can take a look and let me know what you think might be the issue.

I'm suspecting that I only need to update a corrupted file or setting to resolve the issue...

    Hello Steven,

I had a look at the link you gave, it looks normal, and its not hacked.
I feel it is a plugin or theme thing.

If you can list out the plugins used, maybe I can figure out which one is the culprit.

    Regards

    Hello Steven,

The only way to troubleshoot is to disable all the plugin for sometime and reload and check, in case if that does not work then change the theme for once and check.

By the way I found something, have a look at this link http://fairuselab.net/2009/08/15/wordpress-authentication-issue/
