Can't login to dashboard (6 posts)

I've read a few answers but can't seem to fix.

I experimentally changed my URL on WordPress from victordeleo.com/blog to victordeleo.com. Afterward, my webpage is all screwed up and when I try to access dashboard to change back it says "error establishing connection."

All I want is to go back to the way it was without having to mess with anything else. Without dashboard access, I'm hopeless. This little test of mine really backfired!

Disclaimer: I know very little on this entire topic.

Try setting the urls back with one of these methods. I find the "Edit functions.php " method the easiest:

Read this on how to move WordPress.

    Thanks keesiemeijer.

I would do that but I can no longer access my dashboard. Every time I enter my user/password, I get "Error establishing a database connection."

You don't need to go into the dasboard. Download and edit your theme's functions.php by using FTP or whatever file management application your host provides. And Upload the edited file back to your site.

Thanks again. I have cPanel on webhostingpad.com and I've found the File manager icon but I don't really know what to do from here. Sorry to say that my friend who helped me build it is no longer available. I really only know how to work with the basic dashboard and still don't understand why there's not an easier way to get back to it. Again, my apologies for "not getting it," but if you have anymore simpleton suggestions, I would appreciate it.

WAIT! never mind. I stopped freaking out and tried all the ideas on http://codex.wordpress.org/Changing_The_Site_URL and did "relocate method" and it worked. Thanks so much.
