Can't login to admin panel

I’m unable to login in to my admin panel and can’t see the captcha image in order to create a new password. Where the captcha image should be located, it just says “CAPTCHA image” and has a small black box with a white “x” inside it. I’m a newby to WP and appreciate any help anyone can offer. I did search for other threads addressing this problem but didn’t see anything that fit my context. Thanks for your help!

p.s. I did delete my cookies and browser history
