Can't login (login page redirects homepage and does nothing)

Hello,

I moved my wordpress forum to a different server many months ago. I upgraded manually using the long instructions from 2.6 to 3.1. Ever since then I have not been able to login to my blog. The login page redirects the homepage but does nothing. I have tried to fix it using the following:

1) removed the themes and tried copying over the default theme – failed

2) removed the plugins – failed

3) upgraded to the latest version 3.2 – failed

any suggestions? Maybe my database is broken?

I cant get into the admin site at all so please bear this in mind hen responding.
