[resolved] Can't login after upgade to 2.7 (5 posts)

I upgraded from 2.6.1 to 2.7 by using ftp. I deleted the wp-admin and wp-includes folders and kept my wp-content folder. I overwrote the other files. This is the most recommended way and has worked for me several times before.

But now when I go to login (http://arinainc.com/wordpress/wp-login.php/) to admin I get:

Warning: Cannot modify header information - headers already sent by (output started at /home/content/a/r/i/arina1/html/wordpress/wp-config.php:63) in /home/content/a/r/i/arina1/html/wordpress/wp-login.php on line 255

I have already renamed the plugins folder and that had no effect.

Thanks in advance for any help. I am lost at this point. I don't want to rebuid from scratch.

    A few things to try:

    1. Did you deactivate your plugins before upgrading? If not, then you need to do that. See the video at the link below for how to do this when you can't login.

    2. It's always better (in my opinion) to replace files rather than overwrite them. You may want to replace all your files with the exception of your custom files in wp-content...custom themes, upload directory, and non-standard plugins.

    3. Make sure you have nothing before the opening php tag or after the closing php tag in your wp-config.php file...not even a space.

    Figaro,
    You are the man!

Even though I could not see a space before or after the begin and end tags in the wp-config.php file, I pressed delete anyway and it prompted me to save. It worked, but how strange.

    Thanks so much dude,
    George

Any other suggestions? Mine was a clean install of 2.7 through cPanel. PHP working, etc...

One question comes to mind though, if there are spaces in the wp-config.php file, shouldn't those be updated in the download package? I remember this happening years ago... I also had this problem of not being able to login after download years ago.

    Thanks -
