   Hi folks,

   here is what I did: Successfully installed a wordpress network with the master domain network.example.com. By default when I create subsites they get an url like this: site1.network.example.com.

   As I'd rather want my subsites to have an url like site1.example.com I enter the network admin and edit the subsites domain settings by deleting the "network" part of the domain. Everything works so far - I can browse to the subsite by entering site1.example.com - but I cant login no more via /wp-admin.

   When I enter my network-admin user/pass in site1.example.com/wp-login.php the page just refreshes.

   Any help would be super-appreciated!

   You need to install WP in example.com if you want subdomains to be site#.example.com

   There are people who've made it work differently, usually all with domain mapping and some httpd.conf jiggering, but WP works best when it's in root.
