I could not get in to contact support so I registered with a different spelling in order to get to support. How can I get this set up?
WordPress.org doesn't *have* a support number *to* contact. It's open-source software, distributed freely. The only support is what you get here (by volunteers) and what you figure out on your own.
If you use the wordpress.com thing, where you sign up for an accoutn and all that, they do have support - but you're on the wrong forum - they're over at wordpress.com.
If it's your own installation on your own server, you *should* have been emailed the password (username is *always* admin) when you installed the system. If it wasn't emailed to you (and your forgotten password wasn't emailed to you) then I would say you put in an invalid email address. (That's why it says - really big - to double check the email address you enter for accuracy.)
If it's the latter situation, then you're going to have to log in to your database on your server using phpMyAdmin. You need to select your database, find "wp_users" (if you named your prefix differently than the standard "wp_" then use the right prefix), check the "user_pass" box and click "browse" at the top. Then you want to click the little pencil to edit - BE CAREFUL HERE - and on the "user_pass" line, you'll see a looooong sting of characters. Replace that with a password of your choice. Select the dropdown list under "function" and select "MD5". TOUCH NOTHING ELSE! Then click "go".
Log into your wordpress admin area, using "admin" and the password you just created.
