• Hello,
I’m getting this error when I try to install wordpress through my cpanel using fantastico…..I had to delete the prior install because it was not allowing me access, how can i fix this now? Before, I could at least go to my domain, which is timdmendoza.com and see the blog template new page. Thanks, Tim.

    Install WordPress (2/3)

The installation can not be completed:- You chose to install in the main directory of the domain timdmendoza.com, but there are conflicting filenames, therefore we can not proceed. Following filenames already exist in the main directory of the domain timdmendoza.com (path=”/home/timdmend/public_html/”).You must manually remove these files before proceeding with auto-installation:
    wp-admin
    wp-content
    wp-includes
    – No valid administrator username provided.
    – No password provided.

Click on the browser’s Back button to fix reported errors.

  • if you are installing on your public directory, clear out any files and folder. Seems like its stating that you have previous install already or you have leftover files from a previous install. Meaning you should delete all files in the directory you are installing wordpress in.

If you can get it to work with fantastico, I would do a manual install. Its really easy.

In your cpanel, you would need to create a database for your wordpress install, then you would need to ftp into your public_html directory, and upload all the files in wordpress.zip download.

Once you have uploaded all the wordpress.zip content files and folder, you can goto your domain and the wordpress install wizard will open. then you enter your information and wordpress will take care of the rest.
