   I am trying to import an xml from another WordPress site, and I keep getting this error:

   The uploaded file could not be moved to ...directory...

   I was having the problem with WordPress asking for FTP details everytime I wanted to install a plugin, so I defined the ftp settings in my wp-config.php and hoped that would also fix the import problem, but it didn't. I really need to be able to import this way, cuz doing a database dump would be too laborious, me thinks.

   Any suggestions?

   chmod 777 the directory wordpress complains about and do the import
