• Hello, I got a website on wordpress (nexonewz.wordpress.com) and I used the hosting service from 1&1 Hosting and its at nexonews.com, now, I wanted to install WordPress (.ORG) so I can step up my game. But the thing is, I understand the instructions but when I put my files in my directory, and upload them to my MySQL database, and I launch the link, I get a white page or when I do launch one of the .php files, it says

    Error: PHP is not running

WordPress requires that your web server is running PHP. Your server does not have PHP installed, or PHP is turned off.

which is impossible as my hosting has the database correctly and has connected to my ftp account and everything. What else could be the problem? Please help me as I need this as this website is starting to be something I will be doing daily and I want to be able to have the more freedom.

    If someone would please
Provide a detailed explaination with step by step instructions on this certain problem or a whole new step by step (that doesn’t involve me getting into other hosting services) that would be great! 🙂

Please, I need help and I am looking for someone to provide that help.

  • That error message says it all:

    Error: PHP is not running

That means that the web server is not running PHP. It’s not an issue with the database or anything else. You will have to contact your hosting comapny to either get PHP enabled for your account, or to switch you to an account that does have PHP available.

Well I have seen people install WordPress on 1&1 hosting so it does has PHP, just something is wrong in the process.

I just went on their website, went on my plan and read “PHP5” so it does have PHP, and so do all of the plans, lower and higher. I have the plan in the middle but that doesn’t do a change.

Please contact your hosts about this.

Yeah…if I knew a contact method of some sort. And which would get me a faster help, if they have a phone line or a email?

Their website has their phone number, a link for ‘Contact Us’, and a link to their support area. Is that enough fto help you out? 🙂

I already sent them a email and got instructions 🙂

But knocked with another issue, I know how to log in to my FTP account in FileZilla, I have done it many times, but now it just doesn’t log in. I ussually use FTP, implict, “Normal” logonin type, and the port no matter what, wont make it work. Yes I did put my host and user and pass, I know the whole process.

    + I am on Windows 8

This is (again) something that only the hosting company can help you with. You’re paying them for the support, why not keep on using it?

True, I guess I will give them a call soon or email them.

Thanks catacaustic, because if I didn’t call them, I would have never found out my problem. Apparently I needed to use my Subdomain to be the host for my FTP, also then I needed to have my package as Linux for “My SQL” as Windows packages for 1&1 have MS SQL, 1&1 is difficult considered to other hosts I have seen, but the customer support is great as has solved my problems both calls I have made and in under than 10 minutes. Thats great considered to like other companies (not hosted related) (ahem…Comcast support takes a while….more than 20 mins…)

+ You were correct. As the package did not include PHP on the Windows package even though its advertised. Its on the Linux package if you go in the Admin Panel (with your account) and I was happy now that I switched (24 hour package switch….ugh…) and then I can do the process as apparently I was doing it correctly. But the package was my main issue.
