Can't get rid of /home-2/ from the SERPs (8 posts)

During development of a site a second homepage was created. In the search results that page ...../home-2/ now shows up, but the actual homepage doesn't show in the SERPs any more.

I've deleted the 2nd page days ago, I've used Google Webmaster Fetch to try to get the current pages ranked again.. so far no good, it's still showing in search results even though when you click on the snippet you go to an error page saying that page can't be found.

I really don't get this, any advice would be much appreciated

2 Homepages for the same blog? What's your URL?

Google does not reindex sites immediately so it may just be a matter of time before that disappears from results.

Is there any way to speed that process up besides Google Webmaster Fetch? Does that even speed it up?

Not that I know of, but that would be a question for Google Webmaster forums.
