can't get rid of extra space around gallery insert

i cannot find where the extra space above and under my gallery insert in a post is coming from! i’ve used ‘firebug’ to try to tell me.

i know its somewhere in the css, but all it tells me is that it’s from lizartlizard.css, but i don’t have a css file with that name! i’ve searched in my existing css files and can’t find any gallery css! when i use firebug and scroll over the area there’s definitely an extra box there. it just looks odd with too much space above and below the gallery inserts. how can i get rid of this extra space!
