Hello,
I have installed at least three other wordpress instances, and never had a problem. However, now, I need some help.
I created my /blog directory
FTP'd all the wp files to the directory
Set up the config file
Got to the welcome sreen
Typed in the name of the blog
Typed in my email address
Clicked "install wordpress" button
Then it goes to the error page
"cannot find server" "page is currently unavailable"
If anyone has any ideas, let me know. I am stumped.
Thanks

This sounds like a server issue. Is it a new domain? Perhaps the DNS hasn't propagated yet.
No, that's not it. It is an established domain. I have another set up of an older version of wordpress on this same domain, but it is all in another directory. Could this be a contributor? I don't see why it would, but I am not getting anywhere. I have since deleted the entire directory, recreated it, and uploaded all the files again. I even deleted the old files, and downloaded an entire new copy from wordpress.
Like I said, I have successfully installed several other instances and never had a problem like this.
Thanks for your input Edie...
It appears that the STEP 2 of the process is not being able to work. That is when I get the "Page not available" error. Here is the URL that is displayed when I get the error...

Did you enter the email address?

Rather, are you saying that that link says "page not available"? Because when I view it it says: ERROR: you must provide an e-mail address.
Yes, the email is filled out. I noticed that when the link is clicked it says to add an email address. However, when I initially click the "Install" button, it says the page cannot be found.
I have been over it, and over it, and deleted and re-installed everything. I just don't know what it could be. I hope I can figure it out soon...

i'm having this same exact problem except when I run the install script from firefix, when I click on the "Install WordPress" button it wants to download install.php as a file, and when I run it on safari, I get a general error saying "the server unexpectedly dropped the connection".
I administer a hosting server and this problem has stumped me. there's nothing verbose enough to even begin to diagnose where this problem is coming from. can someone from wordpress chime in? surely they've seen this problem before.

Hey Fizz,
Did you find out what the problem is? I still have been searching, but have had no luck at all. Let me know if you find something...
Thanks,
Don

Double check your domain name in wp-config.php file. I had a single letter wrong and none of my links would work. I found this out by typing my entire domain name and pasting the end of the URL for a link. It worked fine. So I pasted this URL next to the link URL in wordpad and could see the mistake.
