When I first signed up for wordpress they gave me a temporary domain. Now I have a self hosted domain from blue host. I can't get the old temporaray one gone which is causing me problems wanting to upload a theme I downloaded from another site...should I just uninstall and start over?

Your best bet is probably to install a new copy of WordPress on your new host. You can copy all your old stuff from your old blog by going to Tools > Export on your old WordPress and then Tools > Import on your new install.

You'll need to update the links in the database. WordPress uses all hard-coded URL's pretty much everywhere, so unfortuantely it's a lot harder then just changing the URL.

The best tool that I've found is at http://interconnectit.com/124/search-and-replace-for-wordpress-databases/

If you follow the instructions for that you'll get the site running on the right URL pretty easily.
