   When I save any new themes into my wp-content/themes folder on my FTP server, they do not appear in my "available themes" window in wordpress.

   ALSO

   I attempted to upgrade to 2.3.3 -- primarily b/c i wanted to get rid of the annoying message "Your WordPress 2.3.2 is out of date. Please update." I followed the directions, I believe, to the letter-- Dropping the new files and folders into the appropriate folders of my FTP server. Again, this apparently had no effect on our website. I still get the message that we're out of date.

   As you've probably guessed, I am an ignorant, inexperienced, lowly newbie etc... in this arena. just trying to get a website up for my new business. Can anybody offer any advice on this? layman's terminology would be greatly appreciated.

   This post could have been written by myself! I am in exactly your shoes. Have not received a response to my post either...
