It doesn’t seem to accept me at all. I have my admin page open all the time on my computer so when i go to the website there is a 2howdy woody” in the top right of the screen, usually i just click it and it ops for me but now gets that error message. Equally i also go into my control panel by answering any email with comments on- like spam allerts but that has the same result now. This is all a new thing as it worked bout a month ago.

What I would try is opening a fresh browser window and type http://www.woodyfoxwillow.co.uk/wp-admin
    and then log in again.
apologies if you’ve already tried that.

thanks but tried that- just done it again in case- but i just get a white page with that same message-“you do not have sufficient permissions to access this page” Thats the problem- i can’t get anywhere- any idea what else i can do- I really appreciate your help!

Do you remember the last thing you did on the site?

Also have you been keeping your site/themes/plugins up to date? Sorry if that’s another silly question, but a sucuri scan suggests you might be running an old version?

Hi Steve- yes the last thing i did was add the surry stag- ages ago. And No i wouldn’t have updated anything- I’m a bit of a technophobe! But even if i could i have no idea how to get into anywhere to do that- Is there a general wordpress area that i’m also in or would it just be my website admin?

    Steve

    (@seekerabroad)

When you mouse over the dashboard option in the admin panel the sub-options home and updates appear. The update sub-option should’ve had a number showing representing the number of updates pending.

At this point If I couldn’t log in I would restore a backup.

As you say you’re a technophobe, I’m worried that you might not have a backup?

sorry but i don’t get the admin panel ae all- where do i go to get that/ On my website? And no i have no idea how to make a backup-sorry! Is this hopeless?

    Try:
    – switching to the default theme by renaming your current theme’s folder inside wp-content/themes and adding “-old” to the end of the folder name using FTP or whatever file management application your host provides.

resetting the plugins folder by FTP or phpMyAdmin.

Why are you using an old copy of WordPress? Were you aware that your site is currently running a very real risk of being hacked? You need to upgrade WordPress asap. As you have such an old version of WordPress, you will need to carry out a series of smaller manual upgrades. See Upgrading_WordPress_Extended for the full details.

    (@seekerabroad)

No it’s by no means hopeless. Sorry, my update instructions won’t help you until you get back in.

Are you able to follow esmi’s instructions? I don’t know how familiar you are with accessing the backend?

    Thread Starter woodyfox

    (@woodyfox)

I’m really not sure what version of wordpress i have- it probably isn’t that old as i’ve only had a wordpress website for a year now- because i couldn’t get into the dashboards to see i just guessed the version.
So no, i couldn’t follow esmi’s instructions as i can’t get in to my dashboard at all. So is there a way i can get into my dashboard through wordpress itself? As i can’t get through my website is there a general way to access it- perhaps then this could be sorted through updates and a new version downloaded?
I have downloaded the new wordpress but just can’t see how to get to mywordpress account. I really need a step by step easu (holding by the hand) method. I tried for 4 hours last night and am deeply frustrated!!!! Thank you again for your kindness in trying to help me! Woodt

    Steve

    (@seekerabroad)

OK! Don’t worry there are a number of ways to resolve your situation. First can you tell what process you used to download the new wordpress so I can get a clearer understanding?

    Thread Starter woodyfox

    (@woodyfox)

Hi Steve- i just went to wordpress.org’s site and downloaded it- I saved the new version to my computer and sort of hoped it would have a run button or something and so would automatically go to my wordpress site but no!.
Thank you for still helping me!

    (@woodyfox)

And i’m sorry that i didn’t respond earlier- but i’m working at sculpting all day and trying to fix this at night!
