Please help! I added a line of code to my function.php file and then tried to update it. Instead of updating, it gave me an error page. I deleted the lines I'd added and tried to update it again, but got the same error page. So I logged out of the dashboard and closed the browser. Now, my website is offline and all I get is the error page. I tried to log back into WP via websiteurl/wp-admin and still get nothing but the error page. Anybody have any suggestions as to how I can back in there to find out what I've done wrong? Thanks!

This is the error message that I'm getting:
Parse error: syntax error, unexpected T_FUNCTION in /home3/mbm/public_html/wp-content/themes/responsive/functions.php on line 38

If I could gain access to my dashboard, I could get in and try to correct the problem. But I can't get in at all! Aaack!

Try going in through your FTP or file manager and renaming your plugins folder.

If you've made significant theme changes, simply replace the functions.php, otherwise, delete and replace the whole theme folder.

I'm clueless when it comes to FTP. This was my first attempt to add code to my website. I can't access wp-admin, so I can't get in to rename, replace, or anything at all. Is there another way into WP-admin aside from the regular url/wp-admin?

The only change I made, I thereafter deleted. There should be no changes at all to the file from whatever was originally there, as I stated in my original post.

Any suggestions as to my original post?

You need to ask your hosts about how to use FTP or another file manager they provide. There is no other way to fix this problem.
