Hi
I just upgraded to 2.6.2 and my custom permalinks are gone.
Tried setting to default and then back, I get the message:
You should update your .htaccess now.
Firstly, which .htaccess file are we talking about? I presume the one in the blog root directory.
So I tried setting the .htaccess to 777, I tried copying the text in the bottom into my .htaccess but still it says the same thing.
Any ideas?
Ed
I presume the one in the blog root directory.
Yes.
666 should be enough (777 is for folders).
Upgraded from what? Is there any redirect trick in your setup of the subdomain?

I changed htaccess to 666 and now when I enable custom permalinks I get:
Permalink structure updated.
But still 404's when I click on blog posts.
Upgraded from 2.6.1 but TBH the problem really occured when the server was admin'd by the server admin.
When he got the server back up this problem started. I tried some of the suggestions online and then decided to get 2.6.2 hoping it would fix the problem...

the problem really occured when the server was admin'd by the server admin.
Then wouldn't be logical to bug them about this? Instead of posting here.
Is AllowOverride and mod_rewrite enabled on that server? - only your host can answer those...

Well you helped me and they wouldn't have.
So thanks, and in future don't be so hard on yourself.
