   Hi, I am trying to get the API key for Akismet and when WordPress prompts me to login with my user name and password, it is then saying I am providing incorrect information. I am using this same information to log into my blog without a problem. My blog is hosted on my domain rather than wordpress.

   your WordPress.COM userid (used to get your API key) is in no way at all related to your self-hosted blog's userid.

   interesting. how do I obtain the wordpress.com user id?
