[resolved] Can't Get Adsense Ads to Show Up -- Any Help Appreciated! (6 posts)

I am trying to put adsense ads on my WordPress site for the first time, and can't get it to work. I am obviously doing something wrong, but can't figure out what.

I've got a Adsense account, got the code, pasted it in the correct spot, etc, etc, etc. But all that shows up is blank space.

You can see what I'm talking about here, for example: http://healththroughprayer.com/practice-moderation

The ads should be appearing in the right sidebar, below the "Now a Book" box. I've even added some text showing where the adsense block should start and end. If you right-click to "view page source" you'll see the google code right where it should be. But all I've got is blank space.

Interestingly, if I switch the code out to reflect a different size ad block, the amount of space between my text changes to reflect that. So something about the code is being recognized. But still no ads.

What have I overlooked? Why are no ads showing?

    Thanks in advance!

    Shifty

How new are those ads? It can take a day for them to show up.

    Thanks Ipstenu.

I got my account last Wednesday, got my conditional approval on Thursday and put the code in that same day. So that was a week ago.

    Can it take that long?

And in the meantime, I though Google was supposed to load up placeholder or dummy ads. Is that correct? I am surprised that there is simply nothing there.

    Thanks again!

No, it should be up by now.

What happens if you paste it into a plain text widget?

That's exactly what I did. I first pasted it into a plain text widget, and when I saw nothing, I played around with it a bit, adding the "adsense text start" and "adsense test end" text to see exactly where the ads should be appearing.

My only remaining thought is this: in the troubleshooting guide there is the warning that the code cannot be between too many div tags, but I can't find any further information about how many is too many, and even if that was the problem, I'm not sure what I'd do about it.

    Thanks again!

Ok, good news and bad news. Out of nowhere, the ads popped up today. It wasn't a result of anything I did, so I guess it just took Google 8 days to get around to fully approving. Annoying, but ok, at least I'm up and running.

Thanks so much for your help.
