   Hi
   I'm very new to wordpress, built a site a few months ago, got asked to build my colleague a site so needed hosting package with additional Mysql databases. My provider (1and1) said that I could transfer on to new package. Downloaded all site files using 'filezilla' created a back up file and changed the wp-config.php file with new server details. 'My site has gone"? I am not a coder or programmer, just someone who loves what word press is and enjoys building sites using theme templates.
   Any help would be greately appreciated as I spent a couple of weeks refining my site.
   Have I lost everything?

   Change your wp-config.php file back first.

   Thanks for your response. the old database no longer exists so what would i change the config file to?

   Did you make a backup of your old database?

   've just spoken with the host 'technical dept' they are going to try and retrieve the old database if they can and get back to me. it seems that I have connected to an empty database.

   If you are able to obtain a copy of the old database, yes.
