can't find podcast on server | WordPress.org

been trying to post an mp3 to my site using podpress and i keep getting the error message: “The requested URL /home/wartime/wordpress/wp-content/audio/5minHenry2.mp3 was not found on this server.”

It just can’t find the mp3 anywhere i’ve placed it. I’ve tried all sorts of combinations and still nothing.

I’m sure I’m missing something simple but cannot figure out. Any help would be appreciated.

ok. now i’ve got it to where i can click the text link in the post and it opens a new window and the file plays, but the button doesn’t work under the post….

John,

/home/wartime/wordpress/wp-content/audio/5minHenry2.mp3

is not an URL. It is the absolute path of this certain episode.

The URL of this file is “http://johnreidy.com/wp-content/audio/5minHenry2.mp3”.

Enter this URL in the field Location in the podPress box below the editor (see screenshot 1).

What have you entered in this field until now?

yep, i did that and when i click the link in the post, it goes to a new page and the file starts playing. but the player doesn’t work below the post.

so now i’m just wondering why, if i have the right path for the file, why shouldn’t the player work too?

John,

the URL behind the Download link, the button and the player is “http://johnreidy.com/wp-content/audio”. It seems to me that you have entered only that part of the URL into the Location field. But it is necessary to insert the URL of the folder plus the file name (e.g. “http://johnreidy.com/wp-content/audio/5minHenry2.mp3”).
