   I can't find my WordPress.com API key. It wasn't in any welcome email and it isn't in my profile. Please help. I want to use the Askimet plugin. I'm starting to get some spam.

   As you mentioned in your post, you get the API key from a wordpress.COM account. Not to be confused with wordpress.ORG (these forums) or an installed wordpress blog at your own site.

   the .COM part of that is the key ;-)

   I may be doing something wrong because I am a newbie, but I like person in the post right before me, cannot find that elusive API key. I went to my admin. dashboard and I clicked on the "my Profile" icon and I even clicked on the "User" icon and both took me to the "Your Profile and Personal Options page, but I still didn't see the API key. And like the member in front of me, I looked for an email, but I never saw one with a key.

   If you can help so that I can activate Akismet and other plug ins I would appreciate.

   Which means you need to read several more times the posts above yours. And click the links offered BEFORE posting.

   Just in case anyone is still confused, once you have a WordPress.COM account, you can find your API key here: http://dashboard.wordpress.com/wp-admin/profile.php
