• I can’t access my archives via the Archives link! I host my blog, http://www.roarweb.com, at 1and1.com and they require an index page of some kind within a directory to not display a 403 error.

I can find the previous postings if I go through the categories links.

I’ve hidden the archives link for the time being, but would like to add it back in. (I’ve not hidden the “previous month” link in my calendar, so if anyone would like to see what happens they can follow that link)

  • Get a better host – I have never heard a good word about that hosting company around here.
The archives “directory” is not a real one, just a virtual directory created by the permalinks settings.
Everywhere else is working without any problem.

Well, you might be right. Bus, as for so many others, I’ve taken advantage of their free 3 year professional package preview and would like to try make it work.

After I posted my original post, other posts have had somewhat similar answers. Turns out my problem was solved following the codex for “Using Permalinks Without mod_rewrite” found at http://codex.wordpress.org/Using_Permalinks#Using_Permalinks_Without_mod_rewrite.

Inserting the /index.php/ at the beginning took care of my trouble – at least I think it has.
