Can't find API Key (12 posts)

One of the very first things I wanted to do after setting up my first WordPress blog was to bring in some of my own YouTube video clips. YouTube asked for my WordPress API Key. So I followed the instructions on WordPress which was basically: "go to Dashboard, click users, click your profile, look in the upper right to get your API Key.

So I did that. It asks me to log in again, so I put in my user name and password and it won't accept it! It says it's incorrect.

What's going on? I need that API key. What am I doing wrong?

I am having a similar issue. I have a self hosted blog and I am trying to get my blog to set up on YouTube. However, it asks me for my api key to do so. I follow the instructions on how to find it on my profile but it is not there. How can I find my api key to set my blog up on YouTube?

    thanks,
    Ashley

So then why does YouTube say that "WordPress Self-Hosted: Requires an API key and the API URL"

Aren't wordpress.org users self-hosted? If it's the other way around, maybe Youtube shouldn't ask self-hosted users for the api key if none is provided by wordpress.org.

I am very confused. I do hope someone can shed some light on this as I am trying to connect my YouTube updates with my self-hosted blog on wordpress.org account.

API key found in your wordpress.com account is what you're gonna use in your self-hosted wordpress. Didn't you atleast try before you complain?

Create a new account on http://wordpress.com and check the api key in your profile page.

I am having the same problem. I did find some excellent instructions, but they only get you to a certain point (and that is if you are looking for an API key for akismet). See link below. So, if you've signed up for a wordpress.com account and have a self-hosted site, what's next, how do you connect the two without using the akismet plugin as I only need the API key for Youtube?
