    Hi,

I'm creating a new wordpress site that has guitar tabs, and for some reason, it is cutting off the text.

Here is what the tab should look like: http://www.pinkfloydonline.com/tab_shine_on_1.html

And here is what it is looking like:
    http://www.pinkfloydtabs.com/?p=97

Notice how the ------- lines are shortened?

I've changed the font to Courier New, which is a fixed font - and the necessary font to correctly display guitar tablature, however it is still cutting it off.

I've tried messing with the theme and stylesheet for 2 days before I finally am giving up and asking for help.

Anyone have any help or ideas on what to try to fix it?

You're going to need to use a theme with a much larger 'post' area..
your lines are getting cut off because there isn't enough space.
If your theme offers a page with no side bar that may work.
Or you can rework the css to enlarge the whole theme and the sections in it.
This is really a CSS problem and not a WP problem.

Hi dradgonsjaw, thanks for your response.

I removed the sidebar and it still cuts it off strangely.

    If you now re-view http://www.pinkfloydtabs.com/?p=97 - you'll see what I mean.

    Anyone have any other ideas?

I've just copy and pasted the tab portion of this page: http://www.pinkfloydonline.com/tab_shine_on_1.html

I want it to look exactly like that page ^.

I know it's a CSS issue and not WP, I just don't know how to modify the CSS correctly to get it to look and work right.

Here is the link to the stylesheet: http://www.pinkfloydtabs.com/wp-content/themes/lyricsy/style.css - What could possibly cause the lines to look so different and weird? This is a post page so you can search the style sheet for "post" to see where the tab is being affected.

I've gone through the CSS editing many different things to no avail, so that's why I'm asking for help. Thanks again for any tips or ideas to try.

Once I get the text problem fixed, I also want to widen the fixed width theme. Can someone point me in the right direction on how to do this too please?

    OK SUCCESS! TEXT PROBLEM FIXED!

If anyone reads this in the future, here is the solution I worked out that finally got it to work:

    Add this to your CSS: pre {color:black; font:12px Courier New, Courier, monospace}

Then, in the visual editor, do the "Paste as Plain Text" option. Make sure "Keep linebreaks" is ticked. Select all that was pasted and select "Preformatted" from the dropdown box.

This gets it to display correctly.
