Hi... I have gone through several of the threads to see if I could locate the answer to my problem but have been unable to get to the point where I need to be. I was at a ROOTSTECH conference in Feb and one of the classes I took was on WordPress. I was excited and it seemed so easy. Unfortunately I did not get going with it right away and now I obviously am missing critical info from my notes. I already have a website which I have had for 3 years now and our web design person has moved away and not able to do it anymore so it is now trial by fire. She was using Dreamweaver I believe and it made no sense to me no matter how many times she tried explaining it. I went on your site tonight and downloaded WordPress. I read the instructions for the 5 minute installation and already stalled. It states once I have opened up the zipped file to open "wp-admin/install.php " but in the files there is no such file. There is a wp-admin so I opened that one but no install.php after that, just install and when I click on that it just gives me a blank screen in Microsoft Picture Manager. What am I missing? I obviously am missing some crucial step because I am way past the 5 minute installation :) I am using Firefox.

WordPress isn't an executable program package. It needs to be installed in a server environment. It will not install on your PC like an .exe program or an msi installer would.

Take a look at some of the introductory documentation and see if that helps to make any more sense. Welcome to the WordPress Codex
