Can't edit theme files (4 posts)

    Hi there,

So I have a weird wordpress site issue, where I can edit the site, but if I want to make any changes to the theme, none of them are reflected on the theme, or on the site.

After I click "update" where it normally says "changes saved successfully" - it then just defaults back to the original file before the changes I tried to make.

Anyone know what could be causing this or what I could perhaps do to fix the issue?

Here's an example of the live site where this is happening

Oh, and there is not a cache plugin installed on the site, and I've refreshed my browser / cleared cache.

    Thanks

Does the web server user have the necessary permissions on the file you're trying to edit? When you edit a file from the WordPress editor, it's trying to save the data as the web server user, not as your user.

Or, as a last resort perhaps, you could use an FTP client to download the file you want to change, change it locally and then upload it back to the server.

    Cheers

Thanks for the response PAE, still trying to figure this out... the client is having a hard time digging up ftp info but once I have that I will let you know if it's a permissions issue.

    Thanks

Out of curiosity what is the host you are using? I ask only because I have a friend of mine who is using fatcow and I've had to edit everything via ftp. Every page edit would not register right away or not at all. You may just have to resort to using ftp as your means of editing.
