I've dug through Google and the forum search as much as I can. If I've missed something helpful, please tell me. I have already unchecked "Use the visual rich editor when writing" under Users --> Your Profile AND "Users should use the visual rich editor by default" under Options --> Writing.
I have cleared my cache and reloaded; that didn't help. I'm using Firefox on a Windows machine but I've checked it on other machines and I have the same problem.
I also tried installing the TextControl plug-in but that didn't seem to change anything either.
It's really frustrating! Please help if you can. Thanks!
Could you put a screen-shot up of the editor you're seeing and drop a link here to it?
Which WP version are you using?

I'm using 2.0.4. Here's what it looks like:

(sorry about the artifacts, but I figure it doesn't matter.)
We disabled it briefly by killing the code in tinymce.js, and then I was able to post the Google widget in the page that I was trying to post it in.
Feel free to let me know if I'm on crack. ;)
Well, that's tinyMCE alright, but not the one that ships with WP 2.x. There's extra stuff.
Running any "enhanced editor" plugins?

Please hold while I confirm that I am, in fact, an idiot.
ROFLMAO! Not laughing at your misfortune, but that one line reply sums up so many of my past days... :-)

Yep! I'm an idiot! I forgot that I installed and never used WYSI-Wordpress way back when a non-HTML-enabled classmate was supposed to be helping me on the project. Thanks and my very sheepish apologies.
For some reason I just didn't notice that one in my plugin list when I checked it for potential problem sources earlier, maybe because it's at the bottom. Next time I have a mysterious problem I'll turn off each plugin one at a time just to be sure.
Thanks again for your patience and good humor!
