Can't Delete Homepage (1 post)

    I am using version 3.2.1 of WordPress and my URL is http://www.like-media.com. I am trying to start over with the website and so I have permanently deleted all of the media/image files and all of the pages and posts as well as disabled all of the plugins to where everything is default. However, every time I create a new page and then try to view it, it continues to revert back to a home page (a splash page) that I cannot find and does not exist (view it here: http://www.like-media.com). Basically every page I create shows me what is on the home page (www.like-media.com) when I click "view". My theme is not even showing up with the current home page. I went into the FTP files and got rid of the image that the home page was pulling up, but that is all I achieved and now I'm left with a blank home page. I read some forums that told me to delete part of the header.php code, however, the part they told me to delete (<li class="page_item ">">Home) was not even included in my header.php code:

    <?php
    /**
    * @package WordPress
    * @subpackage Theme_Compat
    * @deprecated 3.0
    *
    * This file is here for Backwards compatibility with old themes and will be removed in a future version
    *
    */
    _deprecated_file( sprintf( __( 'Theme without %1$s' ), basename(__FILE__) ), '3.0', null, sprintf( __('Please include a %1$s template in your theme.'), basename(__FILE__) ) );
    ?>
    <!DOCTYPE html PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD XHTML 1.0 Transitional//EN" "http://www.w3.org/TR/xhtml1/DTD/xhtml1-transitional.dtd">
    <html xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1999/xhtml" <?php language_attributes(); ?>>

    <head profile="http://gmpg.org/xfn/11">
    <meta http-equiv="Content-Type" content="<?php bloginfo('html_type'); ?>; charset=<?php bloginfo('charset'); ?>" />

    <title><?php wp_title('«', true, 'right'); ?> <?php bloginfo('name'); ?></title>

    <link rel="stylesheet" href="<?php bloginfo('stylesheet_url'); ?>" type="text/css" media="screen" />
    <link rel="pingback" href="<?php bloginfo('pingback_url'); ?>" />

    <style type="text/css" media="screen">

    <?php
    // Checks to see whether it needs a sidebar
    if ( empty($withcomments) && !is_single() ) {
    ?>
    #page { background: url("<?php bloginfo('stylesheet_directory'); ?>/images/kubrickbg-<?php bloginfo('text_direction'); ?>.jpg") repeat-y top; border: none; }
    <?php } else { // No sidebar ?>
    #page { background: url("<?php bloginfo('stylesheet_directory'); ?>/images/kubrickbgwide.jpg") repeat-y top; border: none; }
    <?php } ?>

    </style>

    <?php if ( is_singular() ) wp_enqueue_script( 'comment-reply' ); ?>

    <?php wp_head(); ?>
    </head>
    <body <?php body_class(); ?>>
    <div id="page">

    <div id="header" role="banner">
    <div id="headerimg">
    <h1>/"><?php bloginfo('name'); ?></h1>
    <div class="description"><?php bloginfo('description'); ?></div>
    </div>
    </div>
    <hr />

    I have also set up the "Reading Settings" "Front Page Displays" to be "A Static Page" to the "Welcome" page I created, but it is not showing up. I believe once I get rid of this mysterious home page, I will be able to create new pages and they will actually show up when I hit the "view" button and I can arrange one of them to show up as the home page. Any help is greatly appreciated. Thanks!
