WP eCommerce
[resolved] Can't checkout after upgrading - shipping won't calculate (28 posts)

    After upgrading to the latest version of wp-ecomm I can no longer checkout. Sometimes I'll add a product to the cart and go to checkout and it just shows my cart is empty. Other times my cart won't be empty but the shipping won't calculate and I'm stuck there.

    You'll also notice on the checkout page (if your product actually sticks) that the zip code field says "State/Province" - entering either a state or zip does nothing. What is going on? This is a site with massive traffic and daily sales

    These are the errors I get in firebug after typing in a zip coe

    TypeError: active_items is undefined
    ...active = active_items.hasOwnProperty( $checkout_item ) && active_items[$checkout...

    POST http://www.effectrode.com/wp-admin/admin-ajax.php
    200 OK
    921ms
    jquery...=1.10.2 (line 5)

    TypeError: active_items is undefined

    @abelcreative I took a quick look at your pages using chrome inspect and see some things that lead me to believe that there is something wrong in your install.

    First of all the 'wpsc_vars' variable that is localized into the pages so support the WP-e-Commerce javascript is missing. Without the contents of that variable many things won't work.

    In addition to the error you noted above there are other javascript errors. Including a references to a script file 'ajax.js' I don't see on any of my sites.

    The reason your cart appears to be empty is the js doesn't find the unique identifier in the cookie it is looking for, once we identify the configuration problem that cookie would be set, and then found, then the cart will be displayed.

    If your using any caching or CDN, you might want to start by clearing everything out. If that doesn't change the behavior need to look at PHP errors when the pages are generated, and try to identify why the localization isn't working on your site.

    I turned off wp super cache, to no avail. I know this, everything worked fine until I upgraded to the latest version last week. I'm happy to lend a login to someone if that helps

    I'm having this same issue, someone please help. i'm unable to proceed to checkout after adding to cart and sometimes it says cart is empty. my web address is http://www.buchybymiraexcel.com . Problem started after my last upgrade

    Having the same issue since the recent update, had a few visitors reporting the bug using various browsers
    wp ecommerce is no longer able to calculate shipping once a user goes to the check out page,
    When 'purchase' is clicked the check out page requests 'Please select one of the available shipping options, then we can process your order'. There's no shipping option to select and no shipping automatically calculated any more
    If someone can please help that'd be really appreciated, thanks!

    @jamescb0 can you verify in the Store->Shippings page that you do have shipping enabled and shipping calculators enabled too ?

    Hey @Mihai

    'Enable Shipping settings' is ticked and 'Table Rate' under 'Internal Shipping Calculators' is also ticked.
    I'm not using anything else under shipping so nothing else is ticked ie there's no 'External Shipping Calculators', weight rate or flat rate ticked.
    This set up has been ok for the last 18 months or so.
    Thanks

    hey gang - anyone having trouble will most likely find (as I did) that it's your theme. I paid $47 for a getshopped support token only to have them tell me there was nothing they could do and that my theme was outdated. Try using the newest default WP theme and see if the problem persists

    That's a bummer. I'm having similar issues. Hoping they will fix it for the $47.00 I paid.

    Just to add another bit of info to the pot.. if I'm logged in to my wordpress admin for my site and make an order wp ecommerce will calculate the shipping correctly, if I'm not logged in then - wp ecommerce is no longer able to calculate shipping at the check out page and when 'purchase' is clicked the check out page requests 'Please select one of the available shipping options, then we can process your order'. There's no shipping option to select and no shipping automatically calculated.
    In wp-admin > settings > store > checkout > Users can checkout without a user account is ticked
    Any help would be really appreciated, thanks!!

    again, everyone should be contacting their theme developers with these issues as well. Definitely an issue tied to the latest upgrade and what is most likely outdated themes

    For anyone testing by switching to a default 20## theme be sure you flush the template cache.

    If this step is missed you may not be using the correct files while testing and potentially still see the same error or even more errors.

    just thought I'd mention it in case people miss that part

    well things are back to broke for me - EXCEPT WHEN I'M LOGGED IN. As an admin, everything works fine - if I log out, I get the "oops, there's nothing in your cart" when shopping around. Here's what's crazy: I've turned off the "add to cart" button and enabled the "buy now" instead - this also does not work for non-logged in users. I can see the buy now only if I'm logged in. If I log out, I still see the add to cart. I've tried enabling the "users must register to checkout". This doesn't work either - it still redirects non-logged in users to the the "oops, there's nothing in your cart" message

    Big thanks to @Mihai for looking into and resolving my wp ecommerce issue -

    The bug was that the shipping calculator was hidden in our check out page, the reason for this being hidden was we're using a table rate for shipping that currently can't be influenced by location. The shipping calculator appears to be more location orientated so we thought the shipping calculator was redundant and unnecessary for our customers

    With the current upgrade the shipping calculator MUST be present if shipping is enabled. No matter what shipping method.

    The css object that was used to hide the shipping calculator was .productcart

    We made it visible, styled it according to our sites design and all is working ok on the current upgrade although the shipping calculator still seems a little redundant for table rated shipping without it being influenced by location.

    A request was made so that not only can you use table rates for shipping but the shipping calculator could also add an amount depending on country, continent and then rest of the world which has been noted for a possible future upgrade, at the moment this isn't possible as wp ecommerce currently exists - fingers crossed for that feature being implemented and once again many thanks for the help with the fix!

    Just to give some closure, I was able to fix my problem my removing these lines from my wp-config file (I'm running multisite)

    define('ADMIN_COOKIE_PATH', '/');
    define('COOKIE_DOMAIN', '');
    define('COOKIEPATH', '');
    define('SITECOOKIEPATH', '');

    I'm also struggling with this same issue and haven't received any help. My customers are going crazy because they are losing business, so I have to get the issue resolved ASAP or I'm in trouble with them.

    I'm using a newly created theme and haven't had issues in the past with themes I've created.

    jamescb0, thanks for your update. Our shipping calculator is NOT hidden. although we also use the table rate, not dependent on location.

    We also are receiving issues with the an error "Please enter a valid state." When we've clearly selected the state. Any further assistance is greatly appreciated!

    I have this problem with my site. I understand some have fixed it by backing off to an older level. Where do I find a procedure to do this? Has someone found and fixed the bug? I am running Version 3.8.14.1. I am using a table for shipping rate calculation. site is http://www.completeessentialoils.com

    Oh, additionally, the rate is not calculated so the shipping is filled in as zero, even though the table shipping rate is turned on.
